Confess →

Rating: 5 Cups of Coffee

Auburn Reed has her entire life mapped out. Her goals are in sight and there’s no room for mistakes. But when she walks into a Dallas art studio in search of a job, she doesn’t expect to find a deep attraction to the enigmatic artist who works there, Owen Gentry.

For once, Auburn takes a risk and puts her heart in control, only to discover Owen is keeping major secrets from coming out. The magnitude of his past threatens to destroy everything important to Auburn, and the only way to get her life back on track is to cut Owen out of it.

The last thing Owen wants is to lose Auburn, but he can’t seem to convince her that truth is sometimes as subjective as art. All he would have to do to save their relationship is confess. But in this case, the confession could be much more destructive than the actual sin…

Natasha's Experience:This book was an actual masterpiece. For Colleen to write a story about art and have her story be the most beautiful piece of art that I've ever read is just something I can't wrap my head around.

Confess is a story about a city girl forced to live a small-town life and an incredible artist who has a dark past that he hasn't quite escaped yet. Confess is told with hints of suspense twisting between little bits of truth that are strategically placed within the story line to keep the reader guessing and wholly, emotionally invested.

I genuinely read this entire book with goose bumps. Do you know how insane that is??? To have real-life goose bumps lining your arms because every sentence makes me feel an emotional and physical reaction?
“It appears as though she’s afraid I’ll alter her canvas if she allows me too close. She doesn’t need to worry. The feeling is mutual.”

Owen Gentry is making me rethink my lineup of favorite CoHo book boyfriends. It’s always been Will Cooper then Dean Holder but now?? WHERE AM I SUPPOSED TO PUT OWEN GENTRY? He owns a huge piece of my heart and this tiny little vessel in my chest is bursting with love for all the other CoHo characters already.

“Every part of me hurts. My arms ache to hold her. My mouth aches to touch hers. My heart aches to love hers.”

He is so smooth and heartbreakingly romantic; I can’t stop swooning any time I randomly think of him. Omg.

Auburn Reed is so beautiful to me. Truly, she is one of the greatest heroines I’ve read about. My heart aches for her a million times over.
“Sometimes we don’t get second chances, Owen. Sometimes things just end.”

Some of the confessions embedded throughout the story were hard to swallow. Nonetheless, I loved reading the confessions because they added such an authentic feel to the story.

One of my favorite things about Confess is that it is just brimming with love. Not just the romantic kind, but real, honest-to-god, pure, unconditional love that seeps through the pages of the book.

I’m so terribly upset that I have finished this book because I just want to go back and experience it for the first time, over and over again. I can’t recommend this read enough. If you are a diehard CoHo fan like I am, I won’t have to tell you to grab this one, ASAP. I can say--and guarantee--that you won’t be disappointed.
