ICYMI: #BBInstaRec compilation

I've started a new reviewing segment on Instagram where I can write a quick review, add in my favorite quotes & rate a read without it being a crazy long blog post. In case you've missed my last three #BBInstaRecs, here they are!

Rating: ☕️☕️☕️☕️/5

Favorite quote:
"Life would be so much more interesting if one could ask all the questions one wanted to and expect honest answers."

I reallllyy enjoyed this book. Reading about this family taking a two week vacation to the island, Mallorca, felt like I was going on vacation with them. Straub's writing was incredibly descriptive and I was surprised to have enjoyed reading this in third person (it's not usually my thing!) The family (and friends) stayed for two weeks in a gorgeous house that I would very much like to move into, ASAP. All of the characters have some sort of secret that they don't want to burden everyone else with, but ultimately truths are revealed and you realize just how real their problems are. Overall, I loved the fact that this story could make me feel sad, uplifted, and enlightened all at the same time. I will definitely be checking out more by this author!

Favorite quotes:

“Ingredients in baking were mixed in a specific way to create a specific result – a lot like relationships, Lou thought. If people didn’t blend well together, you’d never get the outcome you wanted.”
“We are born, we live, if we are lucky we love, then we die. That is the way, not something to mourn. Only mourn those who haven’t lived, who haven’t found love.”

Thoughts: I adored reading this story about Lou, a struggling yet incredibly talented chef & restaurant owner. Her picture perfect life crumbles the second she finds her fiancĂ© cheating on her (this isn't a spoiler, no worries!). To make matters worse, her restaurant, Luella’s, gets paid a visit from a well-known food critic/reviewer, who is infamous for being brutal with his reviews, on the same day her relationship ends. This story is one of romance, perseverance, fate & forgiveness. The food incorporated in the story was flawlessly descriptive! I swear I could smell the amazing platters served at Luella’s; it was that good. Definitely devour this delicious story! A perfect summer read!

SUSTAINED by Emma Chase

Rating: ☕️☕️☕️☕️/5

Favorite quote: "A knight in tarnished armor is still a knight."

Thoughts: Omgosh Emma Chase is the QUEEN when it comes to writing in a guy's POV and this book had that natural/authentic feel being inside of Jake Becker's head. He is the epitome of a workaholic bachelor -- he is content with the way his life is and has no plans to change any time soon. However, life doesn't always stay on our schedule -- it gives us what we need when we least expect it. Enter Chelsea McQuaid and her 6 nieces and nephews who have been recently placed under her care. Jake suddenly takes on a role he never imagined he'd have -- being a friend to a woman he desperately cares for and a man the kids can look up to and respect. Obviously there is turmoil, drama, enough steam to light your kindle on fire and the perfect amount of humor to make this read an all-around amazing story! I really loved this one!!! Thank you, Gallery Books for the advanced copy! Releases August 25!
