Review: The Game Plan by Kristen Callihan

Rating: 4.5 Cups of Coffee
Goodreads Book Description:
A beard-related dare and one hot-as-hell kiss changes everything.

NFL center Ethan Dexter’s focus has always been on playing football and little else. Except when it comes to one particular woman. The lovely Fiona Mackenzie might not care about his fame, but she’s also never looked at him as anything more than one of her brother-in-law’s best friend. That ends now.

Fi doesn’t know what to make of Dex. The bearded, tattooed, mountain of man-muscle looks more like a biker than a football player. Rumor has it he’s a virgin, but she finds that hard to believe. Because from the moment he decides to turn his quiet intensity on her she’s left weak at the knees and aching to see his famous control fully unleashed.

Dex is looking for a forever girl, but they live vastly different lives in separate cities. Fi ought to guard her heart and walk away. But Dex has upped his game and is using all his considerable charm to convince Fi he's her forever man.

Game On

Natasha's Experience:

“They claim love conquers all. I used to believe that. Used to think that if someone just loved me enough, it would make everything better.”

Say yes to the GAME ON series by Kristen Callihan. Always. This NA sports romance series is one of the best ones out there. Every single time I read (or reread) THE HOOK UP and THE FRIEND ZONE, I wonder why I’m not a bigger football fan. I almost feel the need to watch football immediately afterwards. THE GAME PLAN not only made me want to watch football, but now I’m in desperate need of dating a football player, preferably a non-fiction guy who is 100% exactly like Ethan Dexter.

“I see Ethan Dexter; he shines for me. And I burn hotter than the sun when I’m in his orbit.”

Woah. Dexter comes out of nowhere, this giant of a man with a full beard and a man bun, and just steals your heart immediately. He is the epitome of mysteriousness. What I loved best about meeting Dex, living inside of his head, really getting to know how he works, was figuring out just how loyal and patient this guy is. He’s had a crush on Fiona Mackenzie for what feels like forever and he knows she’s it for him. He’s just biding his time, waiting for her to realize that he’s it for her, too.

“Every time I’m in her presence I can breathe easier, see clearer. And I crave that more than I’d like to admit.”

Fiona Mackenzie is utterly exuberant, a breath of fresh air. She’s been known to flit around somewhat aimlessly, but she’s working on being more goal-driven. I love her spunk, her creativity, and the way she handles herself when shit hits the fan. Because it will hit the fan. And when it does, Fi is a force to be reckoned with.

“I know I need to tell her everything if I have any chance of making her mine.”

Dex and Fiona share that kind of fiery chemistry and connection one could only hope to find eventually. I will never tire of reading stories like theirs; getting the chance to see the highs and lows of love in such a way that only makes you crave more and more, even after the last page. THE GAME PLAN was a fantastic story to lose myself in. Now I kind of just want to start the entire series over again.
