What the hell do I know about raising a baby? Nothing. Not a goddamn thing.
Yet here I am, the sole guardian of my niece. I’d be lost if it weren’t for Katherine, the beautiful girl who seems to have all the answers. Katherine, who’s slowly finding her way into my cynical heart.
I keep reminding myself that I can’t fall for someone when we don’t have a future. But telling myself this lie and believing it are two different things.
When Brady shows up on a Harley, looking like an avenging angel—six feet, three inches of chiseled muscle, eyes the color of wild sage, and sun-kissed skin emblazoned with tattoos—I’m not sure if I should fall at his feet or run like hell. Because if I tell him what happened the night his family died, he might hate me.
What I don’t count on are the nights we spend together trying to forget the heartache that brought us here. I promise him it won’t mean anything, that I won’t fall in love.
I shouldn’t make promises I can’t keep.
I have absolutely missed reading Lex Martin's words and this standalone romance was exactly what I needed. Brady and Katherine are the kind of characters that will have you both falling in love with them and falling apart with them. I went into this read thinking it was going to be a lighthearted yet steamy romance, but the evocative anguish and emotion that is weaved into this story wrecked me.
"I have never in my life felt like this. Never wanted to throw caution to the wind to see what happens. But Brady makes me want to put everything on the line. Even my heart."
There are so many elements to this well-rounded read that completely sucked me in -- this is a family story, a love story and a story about figuring out who your home is, not where your home is. But let's also not forget that Lex can write steam hotter than a full-day spent in a sauna. Seriously, Brady and Katherine's chemistry could probably burn down a city -- they are that intense.
"The fact that he's leaving doesn't even give me pause. Yes, it'll hurt like hell when he's gone. In fact, I have a sinking suspicion it'll break my heart because I can't dance this close to the fire and not get burned. And he's all flame, a raging inferno that makes my skin heat and heart race."
I'm just so happy to have read and fallen in love with (yet again) another pair of Lex Martin's insanely beautiful characters. These two (actually, make that three, because you can't not fall in love with Izzy, the adorable baby girl that Brady is now raising) will make your heart soar and take you on a serious emotional rollercoaster.
An A++ read. I wholly recommend you picking up this beautiful yet poignant story about love, life, regrets and the importance of finding the people you call home.

About the Author
I write new adult novels, the sexy kind with lotsa angst, a whole lotta kissing, and the hot happily ever afters. When I’m not writing, I live a parallel life as an English teacher. I love printing black and white photos, listening to music on vinyl, and getting lost in a great book. Bitten by wanderlust, I’ve lived all over the country but currently reside in the City of Angels with my husband and twin daughters.
